Professor on a diet, part 2 – what we need to know before starting the ketone diet

In order to follow the KD we need to:

  1. know how to correctly establish the proportions of fat, carbohydrates, and proteins. We must also remember to provide a sufficient amount of glucose for our brain and blood cells.
  2. know the results of our blood test (especially, lipidogram)
  3. control the amount of ketones in urine during the diet
  4. follow the diet in a specific time period, according to medical standards.

Why have I chosen KD?

Because I need help in the next few weeks. It is going to be an especially difficult time – full of work, lack of sleep, and I need ketone bodies to help support the functioning of my brain. Ketones have a very positive effect in my case. I have tried the approach a few times, always with the same very positive effect. I had the opportunity to talk about the usage of KD with one of the senior medical professors. He told me that during the 50’s some students of medicine who completed the biochemistry and physiology course deliberately followed this diet during their exam session. It significantly helped them acquire knowledge. Unfortunately, later on, the method was forgotten and now it is often associated only with the progression of the cardiovascular disease.
